I loved this game...for the first few days of play. It is incredible FUN to experiment with styles and themes, and to play interior decorator to the various whims of the glamorous and wealthy...except that I realized: I am the poor unfortunate footing the bill!
Let me explain: The game offers intriguing design challenges which you must fulfill by abiding by the requirements set concerning style and preferred designer. To do so you must purchase furniture and decorations from the inventory with diamonds and dollars. These may be purchased in packs with real money ...yay! ...and off you go to knock yourself out designing your heart away. The wake-up call comes very quickly when you realize that just one design will empty your game account in a nanosecond! No problem, you say, I will budget...Ahhh...but the requirements force your hand. Well, you say, I will only enter challenges where I have a few pieces in my inventory that save me cash...think again...you are up against some for whom money is no object: you will not score high enough to get a prize to replenish your stock or account.
So you decide on a one-time -splurge: you purchase a mega pack to afford you a beautiful design and you submit that baby right in amongst the top-flyers...Yippee...and you win a top 5 score...Yay!
Now, what? You win a tiny prize compared with the sums you spent. You upped your star score and maybe your level score, but all this does not translate to funds.... and that is exactly what you need to continue playing...so back to the diamond store!
As I said: this game is FUN! But it has to be the most teasingly tricked out, charmingly conniving and elegantly extortionate game
ever devised to exploit man’s need to decorate, since trappers offered First Nations baubles for luxurious furs!
On a side note: the winning designs are very US-taste oriented: oversized, overwhelming and pastels, pastels and more pastels.
Don’t look for cosmopolitan, world- travelled chic here, you will, more often than not, be disappointed.
Make of it what you will....it’s your call!
