Description

Access Git repositories on the go. Clone, edit, commit and push while allowing other apps access to repositories.
Git is a important part of our work-life and iOS can take part in this. The ability to commit even when offline has added utility on a device that moves in and out of network coverage. Cloning repositories gets you a local copy on your iOS device with commits for all branches. You can browse the content from within the app and make changes. Other applications supporting the Files app, WebDAV or x-callback-url has access to these files. Changes made can be committed and the commits can in turn be pushed back to the remote.
The idea of doing significant programming on iOS might seem far fetched when you are used to a large screen, a physical keyboard and a full IDE. But just as it turned out that not every email is serious prose, then not everything that goes on in Git is significant programming. Sometimes you just want to update a TODO file or make adjustments to your Jekyll site. Sometimes you just need to add a file the designer sent after hours.
If you ever make reminders about small things to do with the code-base, then you should give Working Copy a try. You will spend less time moving stuff around and you will get much better commit messages when you write them for fixes that are still fresh in your mind. You won't be leaving your computer behind any time soon, but sometimes it is faster to just fix things with the device in your hand.
When you do need to perform real work on iOS, Working Copy is a powerful tool. Editor has syntax highlighting for more than 50 programming languages and a built-in color picker. Preview images, Markdown and HTML files with a Javascript console pointing to errors in your code. Create new branches and merge or rebase them back, with a brilliant merge-tool for handling conflicts. If you need to automate your work there are Working Copy actions in the Shortcuts app for most operations.
Even if you never edit a line of code on iOS, Working Copy is a great companion for reviewing and discussing code. Repositories are cross indexed and with powerful fuzzy search you can quickly jump from a symbol to the declaration or reverse from the declaration to all usages. A graph of your commits lets you zoom out for a overview of the commit tree or zoom in for specifics about each commit, with speed and beauty you won’t find in desktop Git applications. Review the changes your files have gone through with a diff viewer that is great for text and images. There is even hex-dump mode for that obscure occasion.
Working Copy is a free download but you need to unlock pro features such as the ability to push commits and manage more than 5 repositories. There is no venture capital, large company or ads funding development and your support through in-app purchase directly sustains development. Try out pro features with a 10 day free trial.
When you pay to unlock you get permanent access to all pro features at the time of purchase as well as any added the next year. When 12 months have passed you keep all existing pro features but any new ones introduced are locked until you renew your unlock.

Switch away from Working Copy during Git operations and have them continue in the background. Clone, Fetch, Pull & Push operations show progress as Live Activities. This requires iOS 26.
Create and use SSH keys on Secure Enclave for Git authentication and commit+tag signing. Each use requires either Face or Touch ID and there is no way to export private keys, but otherwise they work just like regular SSH keys. This is a pro feature available to anyone who purchased or upgraded their pro unlock on December 15, 2024 or later.
Support for signing tags with GPG or SSH keys.

Parfait

Cet outil fonctionne parfaitement bien. Il très bien pensé pour l’usage sur iPhone et iPad. Et surtout on peut cloner son repo n’importe où dans le file system ce qui nous permet d’utiliser git pour synchroniser toutes les apps qui stockent des fichiers en local par exemple Obsidian)

Enfin quelqu’un qui vraiment bossé une application qui intègre git sur mobile avec la possibilité d’éditer le code.. le pire dans tous ça, c’est qu’il est humble, les 10jours de tests sont GRATUITS et sans prelevevant à la fin du délais .. ça donne simplement envie de l’encourager. Le meilleur client Git, très simple d’utilisation ! J’en ai testé plusieurs sur Mac et PC, c’est le meilleur, et à un tarif imbattable. Par exemple, il récupère tout seul une clé SSH auprès de GitHub. Et il fait lui-même une tentative de rebase/merge, si on oublie de pull avant un push. À quand une version MacOS ?

Life time licence

Great app, seems to be the most polished git client out there.
Unfortunately even the Pro Unlock isn’t permanent.
According to the app the purchase will only work for 12 months.
I kinda understand the need for the devs to do that but I rather prefer to paid more for a life time license. I always paid for lifetime license and this new monthly / annual subscription isn’t for me.

Genius app that is always improving

If I want to edit anything quickly Inuse working copy. Git has become my standard way to contain both writing and development projects, and Working Copy helps me organize and update anything I want quickly and easily. It is an intentionally simplistic interface with complexity buried one level deeper if you need it. I mean I wasn’t expecting mermaid for markdown to be included - just started using this recently - this put a great big smile on my face! I still feel like I have barely scratched the surface after years of use. And I don’t get spammed for subscriptions. Clearly developed by someone of real integrity and skill. The one time I did need some help to find my feet, I got a rapid response to help me on my way. This is the yardstick by which I measure all other apps and publishers. Amazing product.

Git management is disappointing

tl;dr: Bought this app more than a year and the UI still confuses me.
I tried to use this on simple git repository, git repositories with submodules.
The user experience to control git is very confusing even for small tasks (git reset hard, git pull --rebase, ...). Not sure all these basic tasks are eevn available until I pay more.
The editor integration is really nice though. But in the end if I can't control git the way I want (need) without messing the history I won't use working copy.
Instead accessing a distant shell has better results, and I can the editors I'am used in my laptops.

De tous ceux que je connais, le meilleur clients git sur iOS

Fonctionne comme un charme avec bitbucket, l’éditeur est à mon goût rapide et intuitif.
Bien sûr, la version payante (pour faire un push) coûte 18€ et ça fait un an que je l’utilise, je ne regrette pas un seul instant, tellement le fait d’avoir cette appli me facilite la vie.
J’en utilisais une autre avant qui n’a pas survécu à iOS 12.3, les développeurs ayant arrêté de la maintenir.
Merci aux développeurs de working copy pour tout ça et j’espère que les achats annuels leur permettront de maintenir l’appli sur les prochaines versions d’iOS. Je suis content de les payer pour ça pour maintenir leur élan à développer l’appli.

One of the best but not perfect

It's the most comprehensive tool I have found after checking out many of them.
After using it for maybe a year, I’m still confused by how I’m supposed to manage merge conflicts: the interface and messages should be more explicit.

This is absolutely awesome (especially the Document Picker integration). The only thing that would top it would be to add BitBucket code reviews :-) (PR comments). The bitbucket website is unusable from an iPad Pro.

Je corrige l'avis précédent pour lequel j'avais un problème de déverrouillage de l'application après paiement.
Le développeur a été rapide à répondre a mon problème.
Problème résolu.
Une réinstallatin de l'application a été nécessaire.
L'application est intuitive, complète et fonctionnelle.

Le développeur est très actif et répond dans la journée. L'application est parfaite, et même sur des gros projets elle ne m'a jamais fait défaut. L'interface est claire, et il est possible d'ajouter aux projets des fichiers depuis n'importe quelle application tierce: des photos, des fichiers texte, etc, grâce au menu actions.
Si vous utilisez l'application Workflow, le développeur de Working Copy a un script permettant de cloner des repos Github directement dans l'application. Il suffit de le lui demander!
Pour l'instant il manque surtout la possibilité d'avoir plusieurs thèmes, mais heureusement l'intégration avec Textastic est parfaite donc on peut y faire les modifications nécessaires et revenir dans Working Copy automatiquement pour commit.

2. push the text onto git services like github or bitbucket

App superbe pour consultet et gérer des dépots git

Je l'utilise surtout pour consulter des dépôts off line. L'interface avec l'éditeur textastic est un plus. Seul bémol, l'affichage des fichiers pourrait être pleine page.
