New Zealand has the fourth-largest exclusive economic zone in the world, a vast ocean often exploited by those ruthless enough to venture into largely unguarded waters. Now with the discovery of valuable resources on the ocean floor by a marine research vessel, the race is on to capitalise on them before anyone else does.
