I use Goodnotes for 2 years and have easy and comfortable experience but upgraded to version 5 to 6 seem have a little bit problem. I mean using Goodnotes 6
1) typing: when I type and want to make the words larger, words become broken and can’t show in text box entirely. It can only show the lower part of the words. However, it can be fixed be changing pages or restart Goodnotes
2) can’t paste screen capture: Goodnotes 5 can paste screenshots in text box but now can’t. Even Goodnotes ask for the permission to paste the screenshots and I click allow or don’t allow, screenshot can’t paste
The above situation is happen when I continue upload my notes to drive, I don’t know isn’t it have connection with those error, but hope it can help developers to correct the bugs

I have been using Goodnotes on my Mac for some time now, but I have found that there are often bugs that prevent me from using it efficiently. For example, I can't use my mouse to scroll up and down or type anything. Instead, I have to use the keyboard buttons to scroll, which can be frustrating. While closing and reopening the windows usually fixes the problem, it reoccurs frequently within a short period of time, sometimes as little as five minutes. Overall, I think that while Goodnotes is a useful app, it could greatly benefit from some bug fixes and improvements on the Mac version.

寫草寫很容易被刷掉要從頭再來，非常不方便，請改善此問題。 書寫的問題還是存在，以前版本出現這個問題不大，這個新版本不僅是書寫出現重復缺筆劃的次數增多，而且還會在沒有選擇刷字功能時，無故出現刷走字跡，按還原也是出差錯，希望從速改善。
20231105-書寫的毛病還是沒有改善，很多字跡在快速潦草通過後立即被刷掉，需要按還原鍵一下才能返回書寫的功能上來。希望可以盡快改善,改善的方法，保留書寫筆跡，尤其是快速書寫的軌跡就行。做筆記不一定只轉換成正楷文字，也是需要保留書寫筆跡的。

Ever since the update of GoodNotes 6, let alone the drama, the app has not performed as stable as it has before. I now have multiple crashes daily on my M1 Pro 14 inch MBP, the app just freezes and do not respond until I force quit and reopen it. I am a paid yearly subscriber and I have been using GN since 2012, it has never been this bad. Try other apps if I were you.

I am a happy user of Good Note 5, but I get a very bad using experience on Good Note 6.
Basically I paid my Good Note 5, and I use it. But when 6 comes out, it forced me to upgrade, with additional payment: a monthly payment or a great new price (when compared with the price of 5). If I don’t pay, advertisement is always there and my 5 is suddenly limited in usage. I fully paid for my 5, right? How come I am limited to use or forced to upgrade to 6?
Conclusion: Good note is a good app with bad business strategy. That’s it.

Have been using Goodnotes 5 for three years with no major issues except occasional random lines appearing when writing. But what’s even worse is that the pdfs are glitching and lagging so much a month after updating to goodnotes 6. The pdf automatically jumped to the very first pages or went frozen when I would just like scroll one page up. Have been trying everything by spending ages deleting my old files and emptying the trash bin, updating my ipad ios and goodnotes 6 itself, restarting my ipad, ensuring my pdfs file size are not too large, following every steps on what to do when glitches happen written on the goodnotes official website etc.. Nothing improves and the app continues to glitch. Instead of only telling the users what to do, blaming your clients’ pdf size being too large or blaming it’s the problem with apple itself, goodnotes could you please also reflect on improving the performance of your app? It is unacceptable to ask your clients to do something about it when it is your responsibility to provide us with the smooth user experience.
Almost every thing went so smoothly with this app during my two years of A-Levels and my first year of medical school, but this year the app’s performance has just been intolerable. My ipad model is not even that old, its an ipad pro 12.9’ 2020.

Files cannot be sync via iCloud even though updating to latest version (Mac, iPad OS, good notes 6) and removing the original Good notes 6 data in iCloud.
It’s a good notes taking apps with convenient tools, and creative ways to make our own notes, journal, etc. But like other comments on website, I feel annoyed with the automatically correction for the hand writing. (I write Traditional Chinese).
Please check and advise how to settle the sync problem.

If you come and download this app because of seeing articles saying “the first AI note taking app”, think twice. Think twice whether you need an app that use AI to help you rewrite your sentence when this app is promoting note writing, not typing, and there are more other options outside. Also, there are limit on number of times you can use Claude (similar to chatgpt) for your AI writing. Think twice when the AI spell check function is very limited, especially if your writings are not that neat, and the text that it writes doesn’t look anywhere like what you normally write. As a GN5 user, GN6 is more about getting the AI thing in more than app improvement that user asked for. I pay, purely because of one reason, that if I don’t upgrade from GN5, I won’t receive further update anymore. And btw, the app won’t sync now.

I have to say, before the Good note 6 update, I am a big fan of good notes ! I love the template and the features of good notes! However, I’ve read ur website that if us as paid good note 5 user continue to use the good note 5 version, you will stop the update of the 5 version soon. Update is reasonable, however as an ordinary student, tbh I don really need the math features, esp when they r 10 times more expensive than the 5 version. And I don like how the company forces the old costumers to pay for the update, it’s not really fair :(. If one day good note 5 stops updating, I’ll be leaving the app. Please change the policy !!!

I loved the app, I have been using this app for 6 months now. I first heard about it from my teacher. Though I don’t think Goodnotes 6 is worth that much, compared to the Goodnotes 5. Its 3 times more expensive than GN5. Other than that, GN6 is brilliant! Also, I loved the typing mode since GN5, and I would be looking forward to the ability to change fonts in typing more too, instead of only normal textboxes.

I've been using GoodNotes for over a few years now. There are still little glitches, such as freezing/hanging (I have to close the document and reopen it to get it going again), copy and pasting not working properly, font features disappearing: When you change the size of the font of a passage of text, the font features (bold, italics) disappear.
The drawing features are good and stable.
The Typing Mode (on desktop), I'm not sure why ths feature has been added.

I couldn’t update the app as it said that the purchase was made on another Apple ID and I can’t even open the app. I reinstalled it and then found out it I became a free user and all of my notes were gone because I had reached the upper limit of notebooks. I am originally a paid user! The notification saying that I was a free user was gone after one night and I could create notes without limits now but my original notes now had a grey icon and could not be opened. Those notes were saved to iCloud! I urgently need these notes for my exam and now there’s this bug or something? Don’t use this app and more importantly don’t pay for it.

I use goodnotes on my mac very often, and there are always bugs when I use the typing tool ([T]).
1. when I previously typed on one page, then I go to the next page to type, sometimes I am not able to use the tool and I cannot type anything.
2. When I switch to other apps or websites other than good notes and get back, I might also not be able to type. I have to restart the app.

I love the user-friendliness, simplicity and stability of the app. Basically I’ve been using it for teaching, learning and all sorts of journaling, and the price isn’t high so it’s really a steal!
Some minor problems I’ve had would be having to reload the library every time the app’s recalled from the background which takes a while, a bit time-consuming to scan documents (but pretty clear ones) and the inability to crop what I’ve scanned.
Also, it’s been discussed sooo many years but I am still actively waiting for an update with a pencil option!! Please make it happen!!!

I have been using goodnotes for over a hear and a half (maybe 2?) years now, and I have to say that I would recommend it to all students out there. However, I have found that the app crashes at times (usually right after a new update for me) and it can be quite irritating especially when you're in the deep study zone. This does happen often to me too. Even after checking for updates, refreshing the app and resetting my ipad.
Other than that, the app has been very good at implementing more and new things that can help students worldwide, and are always on top of finding ways to help goodnotes integrate to specific fields of study. For example, they would ask app users (optionally) to write math equations/symbols etc.

I can’t edit any documents!? the button of adding new pages and read mode simply went dark. reopening the app and restarting my ipad does not help. although shutting down the ipad worked for 2-3 times, it stops working! i made sure my ipad and the app is the latest version. i still can’t exit the read mode and my notes is not finished, so it basically means half a year of my work is gone. went to your website for help and it just suggest some rubbish that doesn’t help at all. please improve it or just tell me what to do
moreover, the app crashes every time if i open it for more than half an hour. i need to let it rest for a while so that it doesn’t lag or does sth crazy. why is this even happening?! it’s not a pc or an ipad!

The note taking and saving ability of the app is amazing, however there can only be one account on the app, if there is an account, I tried looking everywhere on the app to find an account section but couldn’t find one. I am a middle school student, so I share an Apple ID with my sister, who is in high school, I don’t want our notes to get jumbled up, and since I can’t have multiple accounts on the app, they do, which really screws up both of our revision and storage.
Suggestion for the eraser function

I have used this app for note-taking for more than one year, and I really enjoyed it.
After using some time, I have some suggestions about the eraser function. I think it would be great if we can choose to only erase words but not highlights, as sometimes I used the highlights to make a little box with words in it, but when I want to erase some of my hand-written words, I will erase the highlights too, which makes it so inconvenient.
It would be highly appreciated if there is a new function in eraser where we can choose to only erase hand-written words but not highlights.

When i use the app sometimes we need to write on the edge of the iPad and it feels un comfortable and I recommend letting the edge of the page to move to the centre that we can write more comfortable
Also you can add a tool that can use as a correction tap for the file we scan that helps a lot to remove unwanted things on it and it won’t be ugly. We can copy the colour from the paper and use as the colour of the tap

I use two ipads under the same icloud account. Both ipads with 256gb and 200gb of icloud storage, and there isnt any storage issue. Both devices are always connected to the same wifi. I always turn on sync with icloud on goodnotes. Why does it take so long to synchronise the goodnotes on these two devices? It usually takes at least 2~4 weeks for files to be updated. All my other apps are updated within a day.
Apart from this it is a great app to write and organise notes.

The app provide a good hand writing and document management experience. However, it lack of some handy features you may find inconvenience.
1. lack of default color selection, 3 of default colors is a issue to me. I have to keep selecting color all the time. I need more than 3.
2. Lack of side bar to view and select document page. I always required to check the next page or previous page contents, and in good notes, I have to click in the page selecting page. And it consume lots of time.
3. Lack of ability to change the to change the hand writing style involving stroke and color after write it down.
4. Lack of ability to adjust the rubber size, goodnote only provide 3 size and it may too large or too small for you.
5. Lack of selection tool, I only require a rectangle selection tool. But good note only provide a free selection tool which too time consuming for me.
6. Lack of selection of viewing mode, I would like to view the two page tgt side by side, so that I could view more content in a time.
However it also lack of this feature.

Love the app, been using it for years. However, i discovered that when i reviewed my note on a different device other than the one i took the notes , eg if i use i pad pro to take the notes and review it in my i pac mini , the zoom scale for text box and hand writing are different. This issue causes the highlights and handwriting text are misplaced in the other device, and a cause major issue when reviewing my notes with both typed texts and handwritten texts. Therefore, pls help to fix this bug, many thanks.

As a student who just recently bought an iPad, many of my friends have recommended this app for note-taking purposes. I’ve used this app for about 5 days, and I’m beginning to understand why my friends have strongly persuaded me to download this.
I think its amazing how you can change the different styles of pen, even sensing the stress I put on my apple pencil when I use the fountain pen or the brush pen. The folders make my homepage extremely organized and makes it really easy to navigate through my notes. I haven’t yet attempted the search function, but I am positive that it would impress me as well. Just one suggestion for improvement, maybe allowing the user to customize the color of the folder would be even better :)

I am satisfied with the experience of using GoodNotes overall. However, there is a bug which was quite confusing when I was taking notes. When I am taking notes for a certain period of time, the app will crash unexpectedly and I have to enter the app again. It happens at least two times within an hour. It was a bit disturbing and annoyed me. It is hope that the bug can be repair asap. Thank you.

Here are two suggestions, or two new abilities needed:
The first one is if there is possibility to add an option of infinite length note that we don’t need to pull for new pages, in that case there are no interruptions when writing a long draft.
The second one is could you add a button that we can close a note when it is the only one? For now we can never close the last page. There is always one open.

When downloading PowerPoint files to GoodNotes the slide will be cut off, some of the words are missing and user will have to retype or rewrite it during the lesson, which I find this problem very annoying. Also, I would be appreciate if you can add a function of viewing two slide at once as this will be a good way to mimic the use of a book. And some content is related in two pages. Moreover, I suggest adding a sticker notes or memo function so that user can write some notes on the memo and attach to the page since some slide has no space for user to input additional information. Please quickly fix it as this is a very minor problem and hope that my suggestions will be taken as consideration. I believe that after the alterations users will find easier to use, and as well as improving your service at the same time. So far I enjoy using GoodNotes very much, but there is always ways to improve . Thank you so much for having such a good app for helping me to study wisely and easily. Looking forward to your new update.

It is to be suggested that the setting of typing (front size and color) in the document may be can add one more setting in the part of document editing, such as choosing automatically following the previous typing colors and size or automatically following the favourite set of front size and colors. It is because it is quite inconvenient and annoying when you casually chose a particular front size and color and wanna continue using, it changed back to the favourite settings and you have to manually choose again anytime you start a new front box unless you change the favourite typing settings.

The day before yesterday, I uninstalled goodnotes because I couldn't upload to icloud synchronously. Later, I found that I needed to click to confirm icloud's agreement to upload files, so I clicked. Therefore, my iPad version of goodnotes can upload file changes normally, so I download back to the iPhone version of goodnotes. But there has been no way to get any of my files. I have turned on, turned off, uninstalled and downloaded many times. The page has been stuck in the picture of being synchronized and uploaded. I am very troubled by this. My iPad version works normally, but my mobile version is also very important. I hope to get a reply. Please solve this problem as soon as possible. Thank you.

It has always been a great experience using Goodnotes. The speed of computer-ipad synchronisation is terrific. This is an excellent app to read pdf files and make annotation.
However,I would just like to make a little piece of suggestion. If I wish to import some private documents, I wish there could be a function that I can add password to certain files.

This is the first iPad notes app that I used. I switched to another app midway because of Good notes’ lack of recording and side by side view. But once they introduced the side by side view I switched back to GoodNotes since I love their filing system and horizontal scroll.
I was wondering if there could be a function for viewing all the highlighted? I would imagine that practically it’s really difficult but I would love to see all the highlighted sentences in one page like Adobe reader. Thank you and keep up the good work!

This is a great and indispensable app for my work, but there is a huge issue I have.
I prefer my notebooks to be the same size, and you can easily change a template, but there is no indication of the size of your notebook. So I have no idea what size to change to, and I end up trying several a going back and forth between sizes trying to figure it out.
This could be easily fixed by having a notebook dimensions indicator in the document menu.

First of all, the app is truly amazing. Simple app and indeed useful for making my own notes.
However, I found it a bit annoying that there are only 3 colour slots. I am the kind of person switching colours, a lot. Therefore, I would suggest adding more colour slots, to save our trouble for switching for different colours all the time. Maybe you can allow users to customise the number of colour slots, like maybe we can choose from having three to ten (?) slots? Or simply just add more colour slots.

I have been using Good notes for more or less half a year. I use it to grade my students' homework and to show my writing during Zoom class. It's crashed a few times every hour during Zoom. Even if it's being used with Zoom or Skype, good notes would be freeze at least once an hour. The most favourite part of it to me is the speed of synconisation to icloud. Basically, after I dragged a document to Good notes on my laptop, it will show up immediately on my ipad. I hope there will be more templates to download, the folder image can be created, and the folder name can be in the alphabetic order.

I want that button back in presentation mode. The function of that button is for locking the presenting screen such that when I scroll to bottom part of the page, the presenting screen will not move with me. This bottom can be found in GoodNotes 4 but not in GoodNotes 5.
Since I am a teacher, I present what I am writing and I have to look at the question at the same time. I can do that in version 4 and I am sad that I cannot proceed to 5 because of the lack of this function which I heavily need it.

Decided to get an iPad Goodnotes for my postgrad degree and it has been a total game changer. No more lugging books around. No more printing out PDFs to annotate and then having to buy a binder to keep everything together. Have also switched to handwriting notes during lectures (no more brainlessly typing out every word the lecturer utters) and it has been good for memory retention. Search function also cleverly detects your handwriting so no more flicking through endless pages looking for that one annotation you made that one time.
I bought the legacy Mac app last year and have just switched over to the universal app (the Mac App Store shows it as a paid app, but if you click buy it will tell you that it's a free upgrade). Good stuff.
Cannot connect to google drive

I am trying to switch to GoodNotes 5 from GoodNotes 4 but there is a nagging problem about being unable to connect to google drive. Not long ago GoodNotes 5 failed to display new folders i just created in google drive while they can be shown in GoodNotes 4 instantly. Therefore I cannot use the ‘import’ function to import pdfs from google drive.
This morning, when I tried to import pdfs, the google drive option simply disappeared. I have no way to download any documents and thereby can’t use the app any longer.
Please fix the problem! Thanks a lot!

Really helping my self to work n organize. I use Good note as my bullet journal . I need to write , and I love that GoodNotes actually just like my note book . And the most important thing is , I can also adjust my previous note .... which mean , going back to my pervious note is even meaningful . .. cos I never go back to my pervious note,,, also forgot what I wrote , always move on the a new page... then forgot . So GoodNotes give me a good reason to review my notes.

The app is very good in handwritten recognition and interface. however, I am considering switching to Notability because Goodnotes takes up toooo much space on my iPad Pro!
I don’t know why it takes up to 1.5 GB while Notability only takes up 250MB. I imported about same amount of documents into it and into Notability.
The problem is probably with iCloud syncing. It keeps syncing up the same content. The issue will be resolved by turning off automatic iCloud syncing.
I really like its user experience and notebook like interface. I hope you can fix this issue in next update.

I’ve been using the app for a long time. It’s good so far but with Apple notes improving, I do suggest some upgrade in features. E.g.
- Ruler. The ruler is actually useful! It’s not just about getting the straight line but also the precision and measurement
- Calendar template. I’ve also been using the traveller’s notebook. I particularly like their templates for calendar especially the front page with small grids to mark travel schedule for the year. I’d love to go completely digital with GoodNotes but the calendar templates aren’t perfect replacement. The two-page view on a normal notebook for weekly planner is also a might better view...
Look forward to seeing further improvements. Great app so far!

As a university student, GoodNotes gives me the opportunity to store all my lectures, exercises, and notes in 1 app. With its great file management, I can make folders to divide each of my subjects into its separate location.
The ability to import any pdf into the app and annotate it makes this app very valuable for university students and teachers alike. Everything is digital and with a constant pressure to go green, this app helps.
The scrolling through documents is enjoyable, and the controls are responsive at all times. I have never had an issue with document browsing.
The ability to open the app in two different instances and do true split screen is a god send. I can have notes and lectures open simultaneously and take notes, whilst annotating, whilst reading.
`Nuff said. Get this app. If you’re a uni student, you will guaranteed like it.

I wanted to use this new updated version so badly so i gave this another try. However, when I tried to move my files to GoodNotes 5, it only imported some of the files, not all. I had to manually check and see which have not been imported and did it myself. Not only that, the eraser on the updated version doesn’t work properly. What’s going on GoodNotes?

I’ve just updated to GoodNotes 5 so I’m still trying to figure out and feel the new layout and organization of folders etc. And will post an update review late.
My first impression of the 5 is that the tool bar is little too big compare to the 4, I absolutely love the previous one, simple and straight forward. However this new update I feel it’s taking up a little too much screen space, and this is very important then you are working on a 10.5 or even smaller screen iPad.
I also notice that when turning the iPad the transition from vertical to horizontal or the other way around isn’t as smooth as it feels compare the 4. Hopefully they will change that.

No multiple documents can be imported directly. We need to import all documents one by one instead of importing as a bundle of documents. Goodnotes 4 is far more better than this version. Please refund.
There is a bug. Please fix it. While importing, I dragged and dropped a pdf file and then clicked the cancel at the upper right corner. The file was then put into the folder. When I did the same thing again for another file, the original folder was suddenly emptied. I then clicked another cloud. The same folder was shown with nothing. This is weird. This meant the original folder was hanging and frozen in the same spot.
I finally figured out there was a way to import multiple documents at the same time but it turned out that if I imported more than 5 pdfs at the same time, only few of them were imported. In my case, I imported 16 pdfs. But only 4 pdfs were imported. If I lowered the number of pdfs imported, for example, 6 pdfs, 4 of them were imported and two pdfs couldn’t be imported. The middle two pdfs were missing and I needed to do the importing those 2 missing pdfs again.

I have been using Goodnotes4 for 2 years mainly for class notes taking. Goodnotes4 is good in term of user friendly and responsiveness. I have recommended my classmates to use Goodnotes4. However, I just don't understand why all the little changes in Goodnotes5 are not improving user friendliness but rather destroying it! For example, I can change the size of an added text after choosing edit previously, but now have to click one more icon to change and yet need to "select" the text in the text box to change it! After trying a few times using Goodnotes5, I really don't quite feel its improvement but rather disappointed with it. I will stick to Goodnotes4 or use other apps if the developer no longer maintain it in the future.

I am a phd student and I use this application to take notes.
I went with this app over Notability for the interface and the general quality of handwriting recognition when going paperless. The folders and organisation system is also very good, and I like that you can change the type of paper for every individual page and write directly onto PDFs.
However it still seems like this can be buggy at times, and I think that there needs to be the option of a smaller more condensed toolbar alongside this one. It doesn’t feel completely optimised for the new iPad Pro. Regardless, this app is a lifesaver and the best out there. Hopefully gives the option of voice recording soon additionally.

it has gone through 3 /4 updates , so i figure i should give a comment for the app
It is a nice app first of all but it has some moment when try to use the magic wand to move objects , it will disappear until u relaunch the app which is very frustrating when u are focusing on work.
Another problem lies on the printing function: handwritings on the print is clear , but for some reason the pictures added on the page will be double / blurry when its printed on paper

This is the best note writing app you can find right now when comparing with notability and pdf expert. It has genes from both world: notes writing and pdf editing, but there is still room for improvement.
1. the app is still buggy. Somehow I still cannot export any of my notes to pdf or images. They are all just blank for some reasons after exporting from my ipad.
2. spread view, viewing two pages at once. A lot of books are compiled in spreads instead of pages, so it will be real nice if we can have a two pages view at the same time function. It will also be real nice if I can make notes with one page of textbook and another page of blank sheet for notes.
3. following two pages view, it will also be real nice if we can open two documents at the same time (e.g. textbook and notebook), instead of viewing one document at the time only.
4. recording function
this will kill notability, period.

2 mistakes I really don’t like about GN5. So I rate 4 star.
First, writing with pen other than colour black would occur delay display problem, the writing is not smooth and sometimes mistakenly turn my word “straighten”, example: I try to write a letter e turn to letter i.
Second, ink thickness adjustment displayed on the right hand Conor is so annoying, I always accidentally touch the selection to coarse with my palm when I try to switching tools.
If developers see my comment please help fix it and I will returning the 5 star back...lol

1. I am a Google for education user. The admin restricted all files belong to domain cannot be accessed by users outside the domain. I can access my Google drive files in Goodnotes 4, but I can't in Goodnotes 5. This is a must-have function for me and my students.
2. I love the function that if I show my note through projector, I can hide the tool bar in the projected screen in Goodnotes 4. But in Goodnotes 5, I can't. This is a good function for my teaching.
3. The crayon style in the Keynote app is wonderful for drawing. It would be great if the crayon style could be added.

I am a use of GoodNotes 4. Let’s compare
Many wonderful features are included in GoodNotes 5, for example, easy insertion of photos, it really helps. The shortcuts of many functions are easier to use than before.
However, there are some important functions disappeared. I love using GoodNotes 4 to teach students as the toolbar will be hidden after connected to projectors. This function suddenly disappeared and I felt difficult to use in class.
I appreciate the efforts the team made, but it is not that practical to me to use in class.
