Horrible experience with the app.
Been using the app since 1.5 month and I always had problems. My calls would always drop for some reason and now it’s even worse.
In a recent case after talking for 1-2 mins the app would glitch and the calls would drop abruptly. In addition to this my phone would also glitch, I wasn’t being able to use the caller app on my phone as well as botim. I had to restart my phone every single time when this would happen.

Since I have installed this app, it was working fine but nowadays it’s not. I tried to reinstall twice; but no use. Then I thought in Kuwait, it’s not allowed to make calls with this app. But it is not so.

Considering this is the only legal way to do video call with loved ones, I am appalled by the quality of the app. We pay 50 AED per month for a service that’s free in the entire world. And even after paying for it, the experience is absolutely horrific. It takes 4 tries every time for the call to be connected. Oh and yes after paying 50 aed per month, there are ads that would put Xiomi to shame. They want another 20 aed per month just to turn off ads.

It’s the only legal one and I got it, works very well at times, but then the app it self is poorly developed, hangs zillion times, there is network disruption most of the time. Even after paying 600AED yearly you get all the adds in the world with no option to cancel those adds. Looks like it’s more of a food discount app then a calling one.
Better look for alternative and run away from this Web.

1. If the other side phone is out of network or switched off and I’m calling I hear it ringing but actually the other side never seen or heard anything. I’ve seen the same thing happen when someone call me and I’m out of the network
2. Once I get back into the network my phone starts ringing without any provision to answer. There’s a notification that someone had called.
3. Sometimes the phone rings but there’s nothing on the screen to answer the call

After it has been compulsory to only use BOTIM for video calling from UAE it has been a nightmare and it only gets worst after every update. I use the latest iPhone but this app just doesn’t give up giving me trouble on video calling. If I try to connect & if my call is unanswered, I cannot cut the call. I don’t know what the developers are doing but this is just so bad that it deserves to shut down immediately.

Totally useless application and more than 75% of the time you cannot see or hear the other side. Unfortunately it is the only paid app that is allowed in UAE and thats why I have to use it. I am charged 100 AED per month for an app that does not even have the most basic sound quality for an audio call, forget about a video call.
I would never recommend this app. Cannot rate it zero.

I found a good features like media where photos videos, links and documents are stored. My suggestion would be please provide a functionality to download audio files also.

App is not good at all. But we don’t have any other choice. Video clarity is very poor even if we have good speed of data either side. Most worst thing... battery will drain very fast while using the app. But when I was in my home country, I used another app to video chat and after that only I realized that battery draining is due to this app. Please fix it for what we are paying. Remember this is not free app. We are paying every month. I’m expecting improvements from your side. Thank you.

Worked best for me. After trying all other apps for voice and video calls I downloaded this and it’s far far better than imo and WhatsApp. Worked both for national and international calls. My parents and relatives are using these app for last 9 months and quite happy with BOTIM. My Dad’s mobile is VIVO where incoming calls shows always as missed call even when app is active in the background, while I have samsung J5 which picks up the incoming call and shows the notification. That is when we realised to activate the notification on my DAD’s vivo phone. Then it works. Few days later again it showed the same issue where incoming call are shown as missed call. Apart from that it works good on 4G and on hotspot connection too. Video has good clarity on VIVO phones compared to Samsung J5.

Is there an option to rate zero stars for this app. I’ve AED 100 subscription from DU. It worked fine - at least the audio ( Video was always pathetic) for about a month. Starting Oct 1 the calls doesn’t get connected. I raised a complaint about 12 days ago but no response from BOTIM. I called DU but they told to raise a complaint which I did but no response. DU is collecting money but not sure why they can’t take responsibility of such a poor calling apps

It would be difficult to appreciate this app as it fails to provide conference video calls which in my case are of utmost importance as my family stays away and we are not in Just 2 places.
I can’t speak to all at once which defeats my idea of being together even wen we r away.
Please add this feature and make this app more user friendly in terms of its operations and functionality.
The app has potential but lacks direction n execution.
Looking forward to Re-viewing the app !!!

Have taken the 50 AED pm package of Etisalat, which includes free usage for the first two weeks. Been able to use my mobile data and have good video chats with family in India. Never faced any issue yet though I'd image freezing and such issues when I tried the unpaid usage while using some hotels' WiFi when staying there.
Only bother seems to be the Advts which come up when connecting up but these can be closed. I've never had an advt pop up during my call. At times when I saw slow images or patchy audio/video it was more due to Wifi quality at destination ( sitting in a room away from the WiFi router) than at my end in Dubai. Highly recommend this option, in case you wish to use a legal way to video chat with family and friends (they can be free users).

I have no clue why people have rated this app with 5 stars. This is one of the worst app I have come across and I’m writing my first ever review for an app in the app-store out of frustration.
This is a paid app here in UAE still I’m getting advertisements.
Touch calibration of this app is so poor.
Call quality is very very bad. Most of the time its like we are inside a pool and talking to each other.
Even if I disconnect the incoming calls it keeps on ringing. Some times I have to restart my phone.
Also its keeps ringing instead of giving me a notification if there is any missed calls when I switch the data from off to on. And I have no idea where to mute this ringing.
The list goes on.
Such a disappointing app.

I am in UAE, i have subscription on etisalat network and pay 100 AED/month...it worked fine not as good as Skype or other voice calling app...since dont have the other option to get connect my family...after using one month now app became worst...now my family in india unable get my call they no call is coming from on botim even the app is open from there end and later see a missed call from me. Then i tried to call my wife on botim with my home wifi network same issue thr is no call on her mobile on botim from me and when I disconnect call later it shows miss call in her botim app...i called etisalat to complete about it that beggars say me uninstall it amd install it again it will work...did all those thing that etisalat said to do as were service providers...after all they say it issue is with app you have email the support team to resolve the issue...worst experience of an app ever even after paying...i dont apple allowed such ridiculous app on its app stores...it is defaming the apple app store by such stupid service...i would suggest apple to please check the quality of such app before it lunch in app store...i know apple do all kind of test before putting any app in store I appreciate apple for the security and quality test but they failed incase the app...they foolled and cheated apple so cheaply as well like many other innocent people...

BOTIM calls are just about ok, but it can be laggy at times and isn’t in the same league as Skype but for now this is the only tool that works for calls to the UAE hence using this software
Botim is you want to offer better Service just fine tune your software it’s just way to laggy

Being in UAE, this is one of two apps that I am allowed to use. And I have to pay extra just for using this app. It would have been worth it if this app was good. But that is not the case. Half of the time it doesn’t ring. I never come to know if someone isa calling neither does the person i call to knows they are getting any call. The video quality is extremely bad and the voice breaks when on speaker.

This app is not free in UAE and based on its rate this app is not at all fit to compete with other free apps. Needs a lot of improvement specially on video calls where video starts freezing after few minutes. Call gets disconnected if any calls come. There should be call waiting option instead of directly disconnecting. Just copy the features of normal call if you guys are unable to innovate. And yes I can certainly ask for these basic features if I am paying for this app.

There is sone problem in connecting with bluetooth head sets. Kindly, add option to change the audio mode while on call to bluetooth, speaker or iphone.
This option is available for iphone calling, skype etc..
please add this option to botim too..

I am a paid user of this app at UAE. My issues are summarized as following,
1) I am paying nearly 15USD$ (AED 50) for using this app in UAE monthly and why I am still seeing an advertisement in the screen ?
2) Why my calls are grayed / not connected both way for First 10-12 seconds and need multiple tries to get it connected ? This is more evident from your latest update.
3) Every time I receive a call (on BOTIM ) While on a call get drops and keep ringing
4) iPhone usually goes silent when pressing volume button and this doesn’t.
5) While disconnecting / cancelling the other end user doesn’t get a notification as cancelled and hence they keep trying on my busy meetings.
6) Even though I am a paid user it is not connecting to a non-paid user in UAE. I am paying to make calls and why it insist to be only to a paid user ?

1. No option to revert to video if you accidentally switch to audio
2. Video quality is really poor. Need to work on expanding bandwidth quality of servers to handle the load after becoming UAE’s official Voip app
3. Notifications of incoming calls are usually delayed.
4. Ads in the app are annoying. Spl. since its a paid app for UAE users!!
5. Should be completely ad free for UAE paid users, also you should launch a paid version at nominal charge for users of other countries who dont want to see these ads.
6. Ads during calls are annoying as hell
7. Screen auto off setting of iphone is not overridden by the app which is irritating as i have to press the screen every 1 minute to prevent screen from turning off.

It’s good application for videos and audio call,but when signal weak its not working properly,need more improvement for works in low signal areas too,also battery become dry quickly while using this app..please fix this problem it will be number one

This is the worst calling app i have ever used. I am in UAE, where BOTIM is a paid app. The other free apps like Skype, BBM amd google duo were far better than this in terms of connectivity, video and voice quality. In BOTIM, the Video freezes..voice breaks often. The video appears frame by frame, not smooth. The other person’s mobile, i am calling, doesn’t ring ..though the caller hear the call ring. Some times the vdo of other person appears, but here at my end it still showing that call is connecting. Its really frustrating. BOTIM..do something immediately !

Im using I PHONE 7 and after the latest update the phone is heating up within few minutes in call or else earlier i use to be hours on call without any issues whatsoever.
App developers please fix the issue as this is a wonderful app.

Still trying to figure out how to download this on the laptop given that it is such a pricy app and cannot be used anywhere else but at home.
Also there is no way to add people to the video call which makes this service next to useless for the amount paid.
Screen keeps freezing every now and then.
If this is a replacement for skype then it should be a great one since I’m paying a lot for it and not some mediocre one which is no value for money.

Image quality and voice quality is 4 on 5- works clear for couple of minutes then the screen freezes.. but if you switch the front and back camera once then it becomes normal again.. seems like a glitch which can be resolved.. very clear otherwise..
Video Screen does not rotate as per phone position.. that gets a bit uneasy especially when the phone needs to be placed landscape in one location for chatting instead of hand held..
The notifications of the adds are just not stopping so that gets a bit annoying as well

Loving the fact that we finally have a app that connects us to our friends and family back home .. the fact that calling is so expensive and mins are limited in plans, app like these are boom for people to connect with one another .. I would really appreciate the efforts by Etisalat & Du communications and also UAE government for thinking about its residents!!

VoIP calls are a real life line for the millions of expats in uae and gcc _ most of the major players are partially or full blocked . This app voice quality is excellent - because of the developer Iam able talk to family crystal clear - thanks a lot from my heart . Hope this happiness be there for long - the more popularity this app gets the chances are that it get blocked 😂. This is going to big hit
