- find large size of files from synced and delete

Great app, but needs few fixes. 1- When we play slideshow, it treats videos like photos and skips to next without playing it. 2- Video Loading lags: videos hangs several time while playing, even if we pause it does not load rest of the video. 3- no way to go to photo location (in gallery) when we open it from searching. Like if we see an old pic and wants to go to that date to see other photos of the day, we just can’t! 4- several more tweaks needed...
There should be option if i wanted to delete photo from backup only or from backup and device both

App is good but user does not want that every photo to be backed up as we have many tempory photo that i delete after sometime from my device but if i open google photo and delete it from my backup photo it also delete from my device photo also . It is ok if photo is unwanted but i sometime we may need that after sometime like for example university/ collage notes i need the right now but they are not important that i will backup them for long term

Super happy with the Google photos app. Here are the features that I love: 1) virtually unlimited storage 2) “Then and now” suggestions take you through memory lane 3) Stylized photo recommendations are good 4) Face recognition and auto tagging saves a lot of bother - I really love this aspect - though I must say the tagging isn’t yet perfect. (It mixes up my two kids because they look somewhat similar) 5) Auto backup and archiving helps me manage space on my phone better. Some areas to improve: 1) Photo editing - e.g. sending a live message is easy in Galaxy Note - something similar would be beautiful 2) Sharing options - seems to automatically reduce the size of the picture being shared. Can provide options for picture sizes at all times, especially when sharing via email.

There are several issues I have faced on the app on IOS 16.2, iPhone 12.
- Yesterday & earlier today I tried to create a movie using predefined themes, it did not work on both attempts.
- the text search on images is not as accurate as apple photos. It felt inferior.
- the app has identified few hundred faces from group pictures and parties, more than a dozen I have labeled, however most these faves I don’t care about. While I was able to conveniently hide many of these faces, I have pictures of some friends that I want the app to identify and I can’t find a way to add another face to the list of faces the app has already identified.
I recently purchased the subscription for 200GB So I am still in the process of uploading pictures (about 20K done and more than that to be uploaded) from the desktop - using the browser. I do not know if I need to stop uploading to get rid of the above mentioned issues but intermittently I was not uploading in last two days and I don’t think the app identifies any more faces after whatever limit it had for number of faces.

Nothing can beat this.. Auto videos made after a trip is more than worthy for storing and reliving the memories. Also the videos made of kids' photos to show up their growth is just amazing surprise feature. Thank you Google photos. The one who have created this app must be a digital visionary. Kudos to all of them. If one has also got a Google one subscription, nothing beats Google photos. Several features seem to be pack and parcel with Google One subscription.

Update: now the below issue is fixed. Google photos working as expected.
This is a well designed app. Really. Although I am paying for Google cloud storage to store original resolution pictures and videos, but I cannot use this app because I have also enabled iCloud for Photos on iPhone. And Google Photos doesn’t work with iCloud enabled Photos. When iCloud is enabled, iPhone stores full resolution pictures in the iCloud and low resolution on iPhone. And Google Photos starts uploading low res photos to cloud. It should first fetch the full res pictures and videos from iCloud. Many other apps download original picture from iCloud. Why can’t Google Photos?

The app is very helpful but there is a security issue because it does not provide any kind of security authentication feature like face id or passcode which is must because of the personal images and videos anyone could access my stuff who using my phone for a while so kindly provide Face id feature and Passcode Feature. Secondly, mobile data upload is not stable. It still says waiting for wifi. Why does it wait for wifi when i have checked on the mobile data upload option and it does not upload my images on the server. So make this stable to upload the stuff on google photos with mobile data as soon as possible.

It is beauty. We the users come to know the beauty of the pictures clicked by us only when the app notifies like the panorama, animations etc. The sweet moments a year ago, two years ago etc are a marvel. We would not otherwise remember those memorable moments of our lives. The improved search option is nothing but excellent. Face identification and grouping is a boon to the app users (though some more efficiency could be thought off). I spend a minimum of 30 minutes to an hour per day with my app. Photo edit option particularly adding our message to the photoes captured will add to the utility of the app. I love the app. Thank you Google

It's a great app and the the reliability is great. It will be best if the following feature gets added. 1) ability to see if a photo has been added to a album 2) ability to tag multiple photo together 3) Make certain photos or album offline... I.e. Ability to decide on the cache size 4) OCR for easy searching of text in photos 5) control to choose specific photos/folder from google drive that will show up in Google photos 6) Albums should be searchable while adding photos to it.

I have been using this app for almost 8 years now, i have never seen such a nice app to safeguard all your pics and i can save all the pictures in one place and can be transferred to any device with the access of your google account. But the face recognition is toomuch messedup and it mixes all the photos.... just do something about it please!
Face ID or lock protect like drive is very essential.. and without that it seems pretty unsafe for the photos…

It’s a really good app to backup your memories (photos and videos) digitally with plenty of options. But the app misses a really huge feature in iOS which is backing up only your desired albums. Without this it backs up all the albums which also adds up junk and blocks up space in my cloud storage.
Also it would be nice for an option to just delete from the Google photos / just from the cloud storage if we decide not to backup certain pictures.

The app feels like a college project done in a month.
Seems bare minimum. No clarity on uploads being processed. Creating a share link is annoyingly impossible. Have tried using the app several times, always end up regretting the UX.
Creating and sharing an album should feel seamless. If I have selected photos to be uploaded they should clearly indicate if they’re under upload or whatever is the situation. Trying to be unnecessarily smart by hiding the status of photo uploads, leads to confusion with the user. I ended up restarting the app several times. Later on the folder in which uploads were done, didn’t even show any photos. All of them vanished.

Google photos is really very user friendly. The way the photos are organised under different selection criteria is very useful.
Your suggestions like “x number of years ago”help us relive old times. Face ID feature enables us to select photos with a particular group of friends/ family members.
The “Documents “ helped me locate some important information within a minute!

Due to less storage space, i decided to keep only favourite pics in google photos, After that until today, app is pushing me to provide full access to photos, since i am not making it, i cannot able to view any of my photos. Even if i stay away, in name of “Memories” it will throw back some pics icon, if i click that , still i cannot even see the memories pic, again the msg will be prompt- to provide full access. Its really annoying and i hate this kind, machines driving the humans, what they have to do and not… I will delete this app itself if i wont get any answer soon
Can’t back up on iPhone test all formats before you buy.

I learned from Google support and what I understood is app made to backup what’s on iPhone like I can see the pic on iPhone but can’t upload on Google photos, because not supported. I have 10k photos and uploaded 6k however tool can’t tell what is not backed up. I mean a backup tool can’t tell what is not backed up. No way to filter on Google photos what’s only on phone. After purchasing, ready for a refund but immediately empty the space on Google or your email stops to function but no way bulk download like have 12k plus photos, how it is practically possible. I never thought Google was that bad or the support couldn’t support me. I hope I get some logical responses or help. Or Apple support can check this such intelligent tool (sarcasm). Money wasted :( and now I have figure out another backup tool which can backed up.

Super cool application, as expected from google! Easy to use and great experience. Coupled with Drive, backs up my photos automatically from my computer. Searching photos with common names like birds, just as you expect, birds are searched without tagging them. One can also search for species, however it may not yield desired accurate results. Nice combination of search techniques, image recognition (lens), as expected from this technology company. Love it!

I love that Google Photos is free but my biggest pet-peeve with this app is that if you backup your photos on Google Photos and then delete some on the apple Photos app, it doesn’t get deleted on Google Photos. As a student i have tonnes of screenshots of PPT’s and blackboards pictures so all my google photos gets filled w these pictures and then when i do delete these on the Apple Photos app, it doesn’t get deleted on Google Photos so i have again go on google photos app and then delete it there too. Might seem like a small problem but idk i hate it.

I have backed up my photos from Samsung Note 20 to google photos by when I log in iPhone with same is for google photos, the photos of both devices get merged... Plz provide an option whether to merge or see only any one device photos or only google photos pictures in Google Photos app... Currently Google photos backs up the photos what if I need to sync the photos such that if I delete from either device or Google photos , it gets deleted from both places to its Bin Folder... please think for that option

Great app for storage. But the app had been ignoring a couple of inherent issues for along time now:
1. Video playing / buffering - This is the major drawback of the app. Whenever you try to play a video it buffers for a long time before playing. Surprisingly this happens even for short videos (4-5 seconds) and is a major experience killer.
2. The share options is extremely cluttered and confusing. I still prefer to share my photos and videos the old-fashioned way of saving it to my phone first and then manually sharing it. Google needs to revamp the sharing options from ground up. (Why not take a hint from Apple?)

We know that sadly google has withdrawn its unlimited uploads feature. (June2021) However my app still says unlimited uploads under high quality even after the update. So I went ahead and uploaded stuff and deleted those from my device. Turns out my storage got over full and they will delete my pictures and I can’t receive emails. My life is completely jeopardised please help. Cant buy the subscription because I am a student yet. If the app says it’s unlimited why did it count towards my storage? Also I did not get a pop up in app or via mail saying about the change

If someone dont want to give complete access of gallery then google must allow there user to use it for selected photos rather than forcing there user to give complete access to use there product ,

Selfie is the new concept added and to hold all pictures in our phone's internal storage or backing up to your hard drives is not only tough and time consuming activity, it don't give us the access to our stored content as and when you need which is physically lying somewhere.
With the unlimited storage in SD size, I truly enjoy and thank Google Pics for the convenience & smooth interface it offers. I'm confident & relaxed my data is safe and secure which can be accessed anywhere anytime any device. Thank you Google.

I am giving you a 5 Star rating because I love google photos but there is a serious problem Our need is that please include a “fingerprint/password security” to open or access google photos this is very important because everybody wants their privacy and google should work on it. I love this app but the only problem that I hate is when you want to watch an old video that has been safely backed up you will have to wait for it to load even when your full on your wifi or network so that is one of the little drawbacks but it’s all fine I can wait.. and the picture quality of backed up photos might look bad but when they are saved to camera roll they are same.. really a good app to safely back up all my photos, as an apple user I didn’t want to fill my iCloud with photos alone in this case I recommend this app

2- feature to change the “share” link.
3- If I share an album with someone, the other person should not be entitled to share it further by means of adding new people or forwarding the link, without my consent

This app is amazing...the image quality is amazing even after compressing...I love everything about Google Photos...just one little request...the video quality could be improved a bit more...I mean...it’s not bad...but it’s kinda too blurry...maybe it’s better if Google Photos compresses the videos a bit less...
All in all ....this app is amazing...hope this service won’t stop...Keep it up....Love you Google...
Update: google changed its policy. Now storage is limited to 15GB that we get. I was disappointed at first but it’s ok. I understand that there must be a reason behind you taking this decision. The fact that photos gave me so much space itself is amazing. I’ll never lose my memories. Thanks a lot 🙏🙏🙏

Google photos never fails to surprise me. It always seems to know what would make my life easier and come up with the suggestions to make those changes. For example, I love their level of key word search and subject sorting which is just amazing. They identify the multiple subjects my pictures contain and label them under those categories which make finding the images so much easier. So, a picture of sea or sky or boats or buildings can be located just by these subjects. I also love their suggestions for editing and improving the images. Using the Google Photos App is just like that experience that whenever you open your door you find someone standing there holding a gift for you!!! It’s a pleasure to have such an intuitive buddy.

No doubt google photos Ian a great app ,good interface but there is a option which I miss in my iPad that is personal app lock option
For example once I unlock my ipad and give it to others for normal use then my google photos are not secure because everyone has access them no fingerprint permission required again for open app please solve this security issue .
I give here another example .. in google drive when I open google drive every time I have to need access it by my finger print
Please add a personal security lock option for more security,
Hope developers team take this issue seriously
Videos and Photos in Different section

The app is perfect... I don’t have to look out for any other apps. Only thing Is that there should be a different section for videos and photos once archived. It is really difficult to search a video until and unless I really remember the date/year.. if there is separate section for Photos /Videos, it would really help finding these easily.
The app should allow iPhone to make google photos as the default app so I can use photos to share from other apps like Instagram, FB etc..

When editing photos, the slider controls don’t work properly. When I move the slider left or right, at times the screen gets scrolled and because of that the slider movement stops and its only the screen that’s moving.
How it should be is that when you hold a slider pin, the screen should not move at all regardless of the fact that my finger is moving even up and down on the screen. Only when I release the slider and then move my finger up and down should the screen scroll, if at all. Otherwise the screen should not even scroll. The photo should not move at all when on editing page.
Videos
The only reason I have apple photos app is because of video editing. When it comes to video editing, Google Photos has nothing to offer other than lame crop and rotate options.
Make it a more powerful tool.

I am using it since a long time now and I just love it. I can store my old pics in it and as soon as I buy a new phone, firstly I install google photos only. The only thing I didn’t like is that google should give more space for beginners who doesn’t purchase the 100gb/month plan as some people who have a large pile of pics and videos would not purchase the app and simply delete it. So instead of the 15gb free one give at least 100 or 200gb of free space to beginners. I think google will surely respond to this. Thanks.

This is a wonderful app by google itself in a first place without any doubt. Also the app has been designed in such a way that for example: if I free up some space in the google app it will be automatically delete the photos in my Apple photos & keep it in the recently deleted file. It’s my opinion regarding the security (pin). You guys can create an extra security features like pin, pattern or password to access the google photos setting. Why I am saying this is, if we gave mobile to other person by unlocking mobile they can easily access the photos saved in google photos. For this reason only I’m just saying add extra feature like pin, pattern or password to the google photos setting. Other than this your app is good I’m loving it.

Google photos is a great app ... but currently I’m using it in my IPHONE 6s device... now I can backup all my photos and videos from my device to google photos... however the only issue I got is that while I want to share my photos or videos to WhatsApp contact, I will select a particular photo/ video and give share and a pop up ask for where to share and I will give WhatsApp after that a small box will appear with PREPARING, then after that the screen got freezed in that part and I can’t even share my photo or video .... If i want to use GOOGLE PHOTOS again I have to close the app completely and then have to come in again (still can’t share photos/ videos) so kindly address the issue and give me a solution.

Unlimited storage is a great feature combined with face and action recognition to search through the clutter. One of the best products from Google developed from the scratch which is surprising.
One drawback: I was trying really hard to find how I can make one of the pics in my Google photos album as my WhatsApp DP. I ended up mailing it to myself, saving to my camera roll and then using it from WhatsApp. I'm sure there would be many such use cases in other apps that Google photos is currently not being able to cater to.

After iOS 11.3 updation i am facing this problem. My all live photos and screenshots were taking backup twice and this is not happening suddenly but it takes time to take the backup twice and not exactly same live photo but the original/normal photo. And whenever i am going to edit my portrait photo this will also take another backup for this edited photo which i have done with the normal portrait photo. Plz fix this problem very soon because its such an irritating situation whenever i am watching my all photos and i will see the duplicate photos all of them.

Google Photos is as if all the photos have been separated from Google Drive and given their own separate platform. Google Photos may not be the best app for editing photos. It may not be the best photo app in terms of user interface. But it sure is the best overall “general purpose” photos app with powerful storage, display and editing tools all built into one package. In my opinion, the best photos app for a general purpose daily use on any platform.

The App is really good, get everything done in a jiffy. The UI is on point. Ever since I started using this app, I have never been able to fill even half of my storage space on my iPhone. It’s a gem of an app. The features I enjoy are - facial recognition and grouping, which makes every person’s photos appear in a separate album. The app suggests photo rotations and archiving document scans. The app can also male Mother’s Day and Fathers Day videos, which is pretty cool.
I would strongly suggest everyone to start using this app.

Apart from being really amazing App to sort out your life somethings should be taken care of.
1. If google photos doesn’t automatically recognise all the people in a picture , there should be an option to ‘force the app’ to recognise all the faces.
2. While sync is in progress , all pictures should which have been backed up on google photos should show some sort of green colour bar or google colour band at the bottom while pictures which haven’t been backed up should have some other colour for better visualisation while trying to see which pictures have been backed up as which haven’t been.

App on its on is really great, given that you get unlimited storage, I never needed another thought while downloading the app. UI is similar to the native photos app, so you don’t get confused. But the only gripe is that google photos can’t be set as the default app, so if you delete all the photos on your iPhone after backing it up in google photos, you cannot share photos from other apps. You can share photos from the google photos app, but lets say you opened instagram and wanted to upload a photo, you tap on the new icon and only thing you see is blank. If apple lets 3rd party photos app to be set as default then this app will be perfect. And..... one more thing is that you can’t make a photo your wallpaper directly from google photos app like you do on the actual photos app. That’s all the problem I have with google photos. Over all the best app for photo backups.

Google photos works perfectly every time. It will automatically back-up your photos, create animations and collages, fix lighting and colour, create movies and take you down the memory lane by bringing back memories from old pics. The app also has a slick facial recognition feature that lets you search your entire photo library for any face and bring up all the photos that have that face you searched for. This also makes sharing photos with individual people easy by selecting their face so they automatically get those pics which have their fave in them. Super fast and smooth.

The app is really good. The issues of uploading photos to the album, where it would upload to Google photos, and then we separately place them in an album are gone. This was a major issue. One more thing I would love to be added . The ability to share pics to Google photos from the default photos app given by iOS. Share extension is extremely essential. Suppose I wanted to upload photos 2 years old, currently I have to go to the Google Photos app, go through both the uploaded and non-uploaded photos to find it. This is a big pain. This is the sort of scenarios where share extension is a must. If this is added , 5 stars

This app is undoubtedly the most essential and useful app for storing and sharing pictures and videos which usually take up the bulk of the space in your phone. With an unlimited storage (high quality) for media, this is a boon for me as I never have enough storage on my phone (32GB iPhone) and it automatically syncs my camera roll which I can later on delete from my phone to save space. This is genuinely an exceptional public service that Google has done for people. Haha! Thanks Google.

For those of you, who are tired of deleting your photos to improve backup.. try this. It backs up, categories, and helps you delete your photos once it’s backed up.
It helps you search similar results from your photographs, suggests amazing edits and animation, categorises your photographs based on people, place, things and basically anything you want.
You can also copy the text on a image.

Google photos is the best thing to happen till date but the main big issue is this only that it takes soo much of our internet for playing videos so plz make videos playable on average net speed also . So that it can we more easy to watch without downloading & Make the app so updated that it can upload photos and videos while the phone is locked in background ...when the phone screen is off google photos does not work....so correct that thing too make some tab to see that how much file has been uploaded on google photos..... kindly take these suggestions seriously developers.

Google photos is really a smart way to store all your pics on the cloud from all devices. With internet getting better, the efficient use is quite possible at any time virtually. The smartness in the google scripts is also praiseworthy which keeps on giving collages and time lapse comparisons. Google can further provide way to change dates of photos since the old scanned pics are shown with the scan date.

Real scenario - bought new phone, my iCloud account memory was full, installed google photos on both phones, and simultaneously applied for synchronisation at both phones. In just 12 hours, all my I cloud data as well my phone pictures were on google photos & all due to unlimited storage feature.
Lifesaver - After photos backup completion, I was able to delete pics/videos without a thought from phone & iCloud account. And can access my pictures anytime/anyphone without thinking about memory.

I’ve been using this for quite a while and haven’t faced any issues. As a developer I tend to judge how the apps are designed and I think this is a really well-made app. Hats off to the google team on this.
The only reason I reduced one star is because the support isn’t good. I had an issue with the app on my dad’s phone where it says storage full but his google drive is actually empty and I had even changed the setting in his photos app to optimised (unlimited) mode. It’s even buggy as it shows the files have 0 byte when I used drive to sort them by size (high to low) and the highest file showed zero but that doesn’t reflect back and he keeps getting an error that the storage is full. I have make queries to google twice from his account with no response yet. I hope these issues get fixed eventually.

I'm just grateful to google photos for building an app for iOS helping to manage with ease the limited storage in iPhone;
with TONS of photos, lovely live photos and videos as for a student It is just a fair pocket- friendly alternative and a good one.
Almost whole of my family now efficiently manages their visual data and shares animation, specialisation and other quite useful things via the app
I hope that the app just blooms to serve more efficiently and help us more than ever!!!
