🔊 Welcome back to ep.004 of Sayo Says! And if you’re joining for the first time, don’t forget to go back and watch the previous episodes!
I’m your host, Adesayo, but you can call me Sayo, and I’m so happy to have you here.
In this episode, we’re talking about sex, baby! I get honest about some of my dating and relationship experiences and how I navigated my sexual curiosity. As a young African woman, trying to navigate the world or romance and dating when culture makes a taboo of women’s sexual desire and expression. Sex is often spoken about as something that is done to women, not with women. Rejecting the shame that is projected onto you as a woman is so freeing! Do not be silenced, sis.
📝 In this episode we talk about:
💕Dating as a young Black woman
⚧️ Sex and the women’s pleasure
🤔 Sexual curiosity
🫣 Shame culture and the conspiracy of silence around sex for women
🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Regretful mothers and wives
🍿This episode is a must watch if you’re young woman trying to navigate dating and romance; and want to listen to unfiltered, unapologetic conversations about the importance of rejecting shame surrounding sex as a woman and why you shouldn’t internalise it.
If you love nuance and a good story time, and thinking beyond the surface, then you’re going to love this show!
💬 Let me know in the comments: were you encouraged to talk about sex with your parents?
Did you struggle navigating dating as a young woman?
Is talking about sex and exploring your sexuality something that makes you uncomfortable?
Would you say that you have a health relationship with your body?
Thank you for watching.
Lots of love,
Sayo x
